(Worthy News)—According to a whistleblower report submitted to the House Judiciary Committee, the FBI under the Obama Administration launched a “honeypot” operation targeting Donald Trump shortly after he announced his presidential campaign in June 2015, which predated the Crossfire Hurricane Investigation, according to the Washington Times.

The committee plans to investigate claims from a whistleblower alleging that then-FBI Director James Comey ordered an off-the-books operation that targeted the Trump campaign. The disclosure alleges that two undercover female FBI agents infiltrated Trump’s campaign at high levels and acted as “honeypots” while traveling with Trump and his staff. The whistleblower asserts that the agent “personally knew” Comey directed the investigation, which reportedly resembled a fishing expedition aimed at uncovering any potentially incriminating information rather than focusing on a specific crime.

The whistleblower claims the undercover “honeypot” agents specifically targeted Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, who later pleaded guilty in October 2017 to making false statements to the FBI regarding his contacts on U.S.-Russia relations.

Papadopoulos served 12 days in federal prison, followed by a year of supervised release, before being pardoned by Trump in 2020.

Declassified Justice Department documents from April 2020 revealed that FBI agent Curtis Heide handled a confidential source who recorded conversations with George Papadopoulos. In these recordings, Papadopoulos firmly denied any Trump campaign involvement in hacking the Democratic National Committee’s emails in 2016 and rejected claims of collusion with Russia.

In a December 2019 report, Inspector General Horowitz cited the omission of George Papadopoulos’ denials as two of 17 “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in the FBI’s warrant application to surveil Trump campaign associate Carter Page, a central figure in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. These denials were excluded from the FBI’s application to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, as revealed in documents released by Attorney General William P. Barr.

The whistleblower alleges that one undercover agent was transferred to the CIA to avoid being a potential witness, while the other involved in the operation was promoted to a high-level FBI executive. According to the disclosure, the employee also reported witnessing directives for FBI staff never to discuss the operation again, even with those directly involved.
