(Worthy News) – U.S. Special Envoy for Hostage Response Adam Boehler dismissed a Washington Post report claiming President Donald Trump threatened to abandon Israel unless the Gaza war ended, calling it “fake news.”

“That sounds like fake news to me,” Boehler told Fox News Digital during the annual Jerusalem Post Conference in New York. “President Trump’s support for Israel is ironclad.”

Echoing Boehler’s remarks, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told Israel’s Ynet, “Their reporting is nonsense. They need to listen to what the President says – not what some uninformed ‘source’ pretends to know.”

Speaking from the conference, Boehler said a deal to release the 58 hostages still held by Hamas is “closer than we ever were,” crediting Trump and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff for keeping pressure on negotiations. “Our primary focus is number one, the hostages, and number two, Israel’s security,” he said.

On the humanitarian front, Boehler noted the reopening of Gaza’s borders to aid trucks and hinted at a potential replacement for UNRWA. “If this new mechanism works and gets food to the people, I’m all for it.”

He also recalled the emotional release of American-Israeli soldier Edan Alexander on Mother’s Day, describing it as “unbelievable… exciting, nerve-wracking.”

Addressing criticism from European leaders calling for an immediate ceasefire, Boehler fired back: “If I were a European country, I’d be particularly sensitive in how I criticize Israel.”
