(Worthy News) – Nearly 2,000 people were baptized Sunday on the shores of Hanna Park Beach as The Church of Eleven22 held its annual Beach Baptism event, drawing thousands in a vibrant public declaration of Christian faith.

A total of 1,958 individuals took the plunge in the Atlantic Ocean, symbolizing their commitment to Jesus Christ, while hundreds more stood on the beach cheering, praying, and worshiping alongside them.

“1,958 members of our church family went public with their faith today and got baptized!” the church shared on social media. “Every year Beach Baptism somehow gets better and better and we could not be more in awe of the goodness of God.”

Participants came from across Florida, Georgia, and other states to join in what has become one of the largest baptism gatherings in the region. The event reflects a growing movement that has seen increasing participation each year, up from over 1,600 baptisms in 2024.

Pastor Joby Martin, the lead pastor of The Church of Eleven22, praised the spiritual impact of the moment: “We are a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. Today, we celebrated 1,958 people proclaiming Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It doesn’t get much better than that!”

Jay Owen, a church spokesperson, added, “It’s a great reminder that the church is not dead, and neither is God. He is moving amongst His people all over the world and we’re all just swept up in His work.”

Social media was flooded with gratitude and awe from those who witnessed or participated in the event. One attendee commented, “Privilege to be there and celebrate with everyone,” while another called it “a million little miracles.” A returning guest, Jeanette Marsh, wrote, “My fourth year coming to Beach Baptism and every year is so powerful and amazing! Praise God.”

The Church of Eleven22 has hosted the event for over a decade, with the annual baptisms now becoming a highly anticipated spiritual celebration on the First Coast.
