(Worthy News) – Alarmed by dwindling U.S. missile stockpiles and the risk of being underprepared for a future conflict with China, the Pentagon is pushing its top suppliers to double or even quadruple production of key munitions on an accelerated timeline, according to an exclusive report in The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
The initiative, overseen by Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg through a newly created Munitions Acceleration Council, has prompted a series of high-level meetings with executives from Lockheed Martin, Raytheon (RTX), Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and newer entrants such as Anduril Industries. Feinberg has reportedly taken an unusually hands-on role, personally calling company leaders weekly to check progress.
At a June roundtable, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine urged weapons makers to boost production capacity for 12 critical systems, including Patriot interceptors, Long Range Anti-Ship Missiles, Standard Missile-6s, and Precision Strike Missiles. Patriot missiles, in particular, remain a top priority as global demand has outpaced Lockheed’s ability to keep up.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the push is part of President Donald Trump and Hegseth’s broader effort to expand U.S. military readiness. “This effort has been a collaboration between defense industry leaders and senior Pentagon officials,” he told the WSJ.
Yet defense analysts caution that the ambitious production goals may be unrealistic. Missiles can take up to two years to assemble, and qualifying new suppliers requires months of testing and billions in upfront investment. RTX chief Christopher Calio warned the Pentagon in July that without firm funding commitments, suppliers risk overspending on capacity without guaranteed orders.
The Trump administration’s $25 billion “Big, Beautiful Bill,” passed in July, provided some additional funding for munitions, but experts say meeting the Pentagon’s targets will require tens of billions more.
The urgency follows both Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which highlighted Western shortfalls in replenishing advanced weapons, and the recent 12-day war between Israel and Iran, during which the U.S. fired hundreds of high-end missiles. Military leaders now aim to ensure sufficient stockpiles to defend bases and allies across the Pacific in the event of escalating tensions with China.
This revelation comes as military generals are being summoned to a rare, high-stakes meeting in Virginia this week. Defense Secretary Hegseth has ordered more than 800 U.S. generals and admirals (one-star rank and above) to convene at Marine Corps Base Quantico in a gathering with a little-disclosed agenda. Some sources suggest that the meeting may focus on leadership standards, the “warrior ethos,” and a new strategic direction across the services. President Trump is expected to attend and deliver remarks addressing the assembled senior officers.
Lockheed has already been awarded nearly $10 billion to produce close to 2,000 PAC-3 interceptors between 2024 and 2026 — an output the Pentagon hopes to see quadrupled annually in the near future. Boeing and Northrop Grumman have also expanded production facilities, with Boeing completing a 35,000-square-foot expansion for missile seekers and Northrop investing $1 billion to boost rocket motor capacity.
Prophetic Implications
Prophetically speaking, many Bible teachers are closely watching these developments in light of Scripture. The rising tensions, wars, and rumors of wars, and preparations for conflict with the “Kings of the East” are seen as aligning with end-time prophecies. Some warn that a potential confrontation between the United States and China could play a role in these foretold events, underscoring how today’s military build-ups may be part of a larger prophetic picture unfolding before our eyes.
