WASHINGTON D.C. (Worthy News) – President Donald Trump on Monday issued a stark warning to the U.S. Supreme Court, saying the justices have been given “the wrong numbers” in a pending case that challenges his authority to impose tariffs under emergency powers — a decision he warned could trigger a $3 trillion economic collapse and endanger America’s national security.

“The U.S. Supreme Court was given the wrong numbers,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The ‘unwind,’ in the event of a negative decision on tariffs, would be, including investments made, to be made, and return of funds, in excess of 3 Trillion Dollars. It would not be possible to ever make up for that kind of a drubbing. That would truly become an insurmountable National Security Event, and devastating to the future of our Country — Possibly non-sustainable!”

The case centers on whether Trump’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to levy tariffs on imported goods — without additional approval from Congress — was within his presidential authority. The high-stakes ruling could redefine the balance of power between the executive and legislative branches on matters of trade and national security.

According to FOX Business, a ruling against Trump could force the government to refund billions in collected tariffs, potentially unraveling a key pillar of his “America First” economic policy. Treasury data show the U.S. government collected over $213 billion in tariff revenue through September 2025 — with record monthly totals exceeding $31 billion in both August and September.

Supporters say those tariffs have helped revive U.S. manufacturing, protect domestic jobs, and reduce dependence on adversarial nations like China. Critics, however, claim they act as hidden taxes that raise consumer prices.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates the tariffs imposed between January and May 2025 will reduce federal deficits by roughly $2.8 trillion over the next decade. Meanwhile, a Tax Foundation analysis suggests long-term tariff revenue could reach between $1.6 and $2.2 trillion, depending on trade conditions.

Trump’s $3 trillion warning reflects the potential cascading impact of reversing those measures — not merely in lost revenue, but in shattered investor confidence and dismantled supply chains.

For Trump, the issue is not just about trade policy but about national survival. He has repeatedly framed the tariffs as an essential tool to defend America’s economic independence from globalist influence and to counter what he calls “unfair trade practices that hollowed out U.S. industry for decades.”

“A bad decision here wouldn’t just hurt Wall Street — it would cripple Main Street,” one senior Trump ally told Worthy News. “We’re talking about the security of the American worker and the future of U.S. manufacturing.”

The Supreme Court’s decision — expected in the coming weeks — could mark one of the most consequential rulings of the decade, determining whether a future president has the power to act swiftly in defending America’s economic interests during global crises.
