Trump Reverses Course, Backs Release of Epstein Files as House Prepares Explosive Vote

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump abruptly reversed himself Sunday night, announcing that he now supports House Republicans voting to release the long-sought Epstein files—just days after blasting several GOP lawmakers for pushing the effort.

The shift comes at a politically charged moment, as the House prepares to vote on a bill requiring the Department of Justice to fully release all records, communications, and investigative materials related to Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking network and his 2019 jailhouse death. The vote gained unstoppable momentum last week after Democrats secured the final signature needed to force it onto the floor.

Trump—who had privately urged Republicans to block the vote—pivoted sharply on Sunday. In a post to Truth Social, he declared that the GOP should support releasing the files “because we have nothing to hide.”

“As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics,” Trump wrote. “The Department of Justice has already turned over tens of thousands of pages… and the House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE!”

Trump also insisted that the investigation is now focusing on “Democrat operatives (Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, Larry Summers, etc.) and their relationship to Epstein.”

The reversal follows a firestorm last week after Trump lashed out at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and mocked Rep. Thomas Massie’s late wife—both among four Republicans advancing a discharge petition to force the vote. The backlash inside the GOP was immediate, and by the weekend, it had become clear that a majority of Republicans intended to vote for the release regardless of Trump’s objections.

“It’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax… All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT, which is the Economy and ‘Affordability’ (where we are winning BIG!),” Trump added.

Discharge Petition Crosses the Finish Line

The vote became unavoidable last week after Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) was finally sworn in—an event delayed during the government shutdown in what Democrats accused Speaker Mike Johnson of doing to stall the petition. Once sworn in, Grijalva immediately became the crucial 218th signer, triggering automatic consideration of the bill.

The proposal, authored by Rep. Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), has overwhelming Democratic support and growing Republican backing.

Massie said he expects “a deluge of Republicans” to break with leadership and vote for full transparency. The measure would force the DOJ to disclose all remaining documents surrounding Epstein’s network, amid years of speculation about powerful individuals who may have been tied to the sex-trafficking ring.

With Trump’s reversal, the bill is now expected to pass with a bipartisan landslide.
