(Worthy News) – Thousands of troops from the 82nd Airborne Division have begun arriving in the Middle East, according to U.S. officials, as President Donald Trump considers expanded military options in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

The elite paratroopers, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, are part of a broader buildup of American military power in the region. Their deployment follows the recent arrival of roughly 2,500 U.S. Marines, alongside additional naval and Special Operations forces, signaling a significant escalation in readiness.

U.S. officials, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the newly deployed troops include elements of a brigade combat team, logistics units, and command personnel. While their exact destinations remain undisclosed, the forces are expected to enhance operational flexibility as Washington evaluates next steps.

The troop movement comes as the Trump administration weighs several high-risk military scenarios. Among the most strategic options under consideration is a potential operation targeting Kharg Island—responsible for approximately 90% of Iran’s oil exports. Such a mission would strike at the heart of Iran’s economic lifeline but carries substantial danger due to Iran’s missile and drone capabilities in the area.

Another option under discussion involves deploying U.S. ground forces inside Iran to secure or extract highly enriched uranium. This scenario would likely require American troops to operate deep בתוך Iranian territory for extended periods, increasing both operational complexity and risk.

Additionally, planners have examined the possibility of inserting troops along Iran’s coastline to help secure maritime routes and ensure the safe passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies.

Despite these preparations, officials emphasized that no final decision has been made to send U.S. ground forces into Iran. However, the current deployments are designed to ensure that such options remain viable if ordered.

President Trump indicated Monday that diplomatic efforts are ongoing, referencing talks with what he described as a “more reasonable regime” in Iran. At the same time, he reiterated a firm warning that failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could result in direct U.S. strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure.

Since the launch of Operation Epic Fury on February 28, U.S. forces have conducted strikes on more than 11,000 targets. The campaign has come at a cost, with over 300 American troops injured and 13 service members killed.

The deployment underscores the gravity of the moment. While diplomatic doors remain open, the growing military presence signals that the United States is preparing for a decisive phase—one that could reshape the balance of power in the Middle East.
