(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump on Tuesday welcomed King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the White House, emphasizing the enduring alliance between the United States and the United Kingdom as the monarch continued a four-day state visit.

Speaking from the South Lawn, Trump noted the symbolic timing as America approaches its 250th anniversary, calling it fitting to honor Britain’s king despite the nations’ historic split. He highlighted the shared cultural and moral foundations rooted in British heritage, declaring that Americans have “no closer friends than the British.”

The royal couple was greeted by top administration officials, including Vice President J. D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The visit includes a traditional gift exchange, a private Oval Office meeting between Trump and King Charles, and events hosted by First Lady Melania Trump alongside Queen Camilla.

King Charles is also scheduled to address Congress, becoming the first British monarch to do so since Queen Elizabeth II in 1991. Ceremonial events featured military bands, honor guards, and a large-scale display of American pageantry, underscoring the significance of the visit.

The trip marks Charles’s first official state visit to Washington since ascending the throne in 2022 and comes amid strained relations between the U.S. and U.K. Differences between Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have surfaced over the Iran conflict and trade disputes, including U.S. tariff threats tied to Britain’s digital services tax.

Despite political tensions, the visit aims to reaffirm the historic bond between the two nations, even as key disagreements remain unresolved.
