(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump warned Wednesday that Iran has “taken too long” to negotiate an agreement with the United States and said Tehran will now “have to pay the price,” signaling that Washington may be prepared to escalate military pressure after a fresh round of hostilities in the region.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said Iran had squandered an opportunity to reach what he described as a favorable deal with the United States.

“They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them,” Trump wrote. “Now they will have to pay the price!”

The president’s comments came after the United States carried out overnight strikes against Iranian targets in retaliation for the downing of an American military helicopter. Iran responded by launching strikes on several U.S. military bases in the region, further raising fears that the conflict could widen.

Despite Tehran’s response, Trump insisted that Iran is operating from a position of weakness, arguing that its military has suffered devastating losses.

“Iran’s Military is a complete and total mess,” Trump wrote. “Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore — They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!!”

Trump’s remarks reflect his long-standing belief that Iran responds only to strength, not concessions. During both his first and second terms, he has championed a maximum-pressure approach toward Tehran, combining sanctions, military deterrence, and diplomatic demands aimed at permanently preventing the Islamic Republic from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

The president has repeatedly said any agreement must not only stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions but also curb its ability to threaten U.S. forces, Israel, and other American allies across the Middle East.

According to Reuters, Trump said in a phone interview with another outlet that he could order additional strikes on Iran’s power plants and bridges if Tehran continues delaying a deal. That warning marks a significant escalation in rhetoric as Washington weighs how far to go in forcing the regime back to the negotiating table.

The administration has argued that Iran’s leaders are responsible for the country’s deteriorating position, saying they refused to accept reasonable terms while continuing to support destabilizing activity across the region.

Trump’s latest statement suggests that patience in Washington is nearing its end.
