Unilateral Cease-Fire May Be Declared in Ukraine
KIEV, UKRAINE (Worthy News)– Ukraine announced it may declare a “temporary, unilateral, cease-fire” in the eastern part of Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine’s President newly installed president, has repeatedly promoted a peace plan and reached out to Russia‘s president Vladimir Putin.
The two spoke by phone, Dmitry Peskov, a Russian spokesman confirmed.
Poroshenko’s proposal would briefly stop a Ukrainian military offensive against the rebels in the eastern part of Ukraine, giving the insurgents a chance to disarm. However, no deal would be implemented unless Ukraine regained full control of its border with Russia.
