Israel Sends Emergency Delegation to U.S. Over Iran Nuke Talks
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (Worthy News)– As negotiations for a nuclear agreement with Iran enters its final stage with a deadline looming just weeks away, Israel sent an emergency high-level delegation to Washington to express its concerns.
The last-minute delegation headed by Israel’s Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz left Israel Sunday morning to meet with a U.S. delegation headed by Under Secretary of State Bill Burns who is the West’s lead negotiator with Iran.
Israel sent the delegation at the last-minute due to increasing fears in Jerusalem, that world powers will agree to a ‘bad’ compromise with Iran.
Earlier this month, Steinitz told a symposium in Herzliya, “Any international agreement that leaves Iran on the threshold of nuclear capability is worse than no agreement at all.”
The deadline for the talks is July 20; however whispers from both sides indicate the negotiations may need a six month extension.
