Sudan Demolishes Yet Another Church

KHARTOUM, SUDAN (Worthy News)– Sudanese authorities in North Khartoum demolished yet another church building Monday one day after giving its congregation verbal notice, according to Morning Star News.
As church members watched, bulldozers demolished the Sudanese Church of Christ in Bahri while armed security threatened to arrest anyone who interfered.
“Even if they destroy this church building, our God is still good all the time,” a church member said. “We the believers are the real church”.
Sudan’s rationale for the demolition was that the church was built on a square for public services, according to International Christian Concern. Yet for 20 years, the church had shared space on that same square with the Bahri Mosque, which, after the state-sanctioned demolition, remains unharmed.
A year after the secession of South Sudan in July 2011, Sudan began expelling foreign Christians and bulldozing church buildings on the pretext that they belonged to South Sudan.
