National Cathedral Hosts Islamic Prayers; Lone Protester Objects

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

WASHINGTON D.C. (Worthy News)– To improve relations between Muslims and Christians, the Washington National Cathedral hosted its first Muslim prayer service Friday, according to The Christian Post.

However, the service was not without incident.

“Jesus Christ died on that cross over there,” announced a lone female protester immediately after the service began. “He is the reason why we are to worship only him. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.”

And because Islam’s “Allah” represents an “other god” to Christians, Bryan Fischer — Director of Issue Analysis for the American Family Association — said that the Muslim prayer service actually violated the first commandment of the Decalogue: “You shall have no other gods before me”.

The cathedral had modified its tour schedule to host traditional Islamic Friday prayers called Jumu’ah. Planners had hoped Friday’s service would inspire Muslims around the world to be hospitable to Christians.
