Iran: Religious minorities executed for “enmity against God”

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – A human rights group recently reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran had executed members of religious minorities who were convicted of “enmity against God,” according to The Christian Post.

In its report, Amnesty International documented that between January and July Iran executed 694 defendants, thereby concluding that the Islamic republic was way out of step with the rest of the world by its excessive use of the death penalty.

Although many of those killed by Iran were charged with drug-related offences, the executions also included Kurdish political prisoners and minority religious convicted of “enmity against God” and “corruption on (the) Earth”.

Under shari’a, the Iranian justice system can be problematic for most defendants who are often denied access to lawyers during critical stages of their trials.
