Cuban gov’t demolishes two churches

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Earlier this month, police in Cuba had arrested two pastors while government officials supervised the demolition of their churches.

According to Barnabas Aid, while police stormed the home of Pastor Bernardo de Quesada Salomon at 4 a.m. on Jan. 8, the open-air church on the family’s property in Camaguey was being demolished. On that same morning, a church on the private property of Pastor Juan Carlos Nuñez Velázquez in Victoria de las Tunas was also destroyed without any prior warning.

Despite having official permits for their buildings, both pastors were detained in their homes until the demolition was complete.

“They see us as a danger because our churches are growing the most,” said Salomon.

The Cuban church demolitions are yet another obstacle for Christians living in a Communist country where congregations are already forbidden from evangelizing, broadcasting over the airways or running their own schools.
