Turkey moves ahead with Russian missile defense despite US pressure

(Worthy News) – Turkey plans on testing its Russian-bought S-400 missile defense system Monday.
Turkish F-16 jets will fly over Ankara to try out the new gear that has displeased NATO ally the United States, which supplies all participating countries with F-35s and its own Patriot missile defense system.
A state department official last Thursday told Turkey to “get rid” of the system, which the US says could compromise American military technology that Russian engineers coming to install the S-400 would have an opportunity to lay their eyes on.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at a press conference Tuesday called the development “concerning,” but said the US is nevertheless still “hopeful” a deal could be reached between the US and Turkey about the military equipment.
