(Worthy News) – The owner of a Christian bookstore in China has been arrested.

Zhang Xiaomai, the owner of Wheat Bookstore, was taken on September 1 and charged with “illegal business operations,” 800 of the 20,000 Christian items in her inventory having been previously deemed illegal by the communist regime.

Afterwards Chinese authorities sent a memo to all police departments to track down and confiscate the materials from Zhang’s store purchased by her more than 10,000 customers.

Police ignored proper legal procedures by confiscating books from homes in Xiamen, taking additional materials from a church in Guanzhou and later intimidating the landlord into terminating the building’s lease.
