War powers act put forward by Pelosi to limit Trump against Iran

(Worthy News) – The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a resolution this week to limit the war powers of President Trump should a conflict with Iran erupt.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi complained that Trump did not notify Congress before the killing of Iranian foreign operations mastermind Gen. Qassem Soleimani on Friday, but said the resolution would make any actions Trump planned to take against Iran hereafter more dependent on congressional approval.
“[The resolution] reasserts Congress’s long-established oversight responsibilities by mandating that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration’s military hostilities with regard to Iran cease within 30 days,” Pelosi explained.
The bill is likely to pass in the Democrat-led House of Representatives, but could sputter in the Republican-controlled Senate afterwards, where conservative lawmakers are mostly behind Trump’s efforts against Iran.
