United Arab Emirates To Become First Arab State with a Nuclear Power Plant

(Worthy News) – The United Arab Emirates will become the first Arab state with a nuclear power plant as it gained approval from its regulatory watchdog on Monday.
Despite being built three years late and over budget, the UAE’s Barakah reactor marked a milestone as it became the first reactor to gained clearance to load fuel and begin commercial use. The plant expects to be fully operational within a few months.
This is the first of four planned reactors within the UAE. The four reactors are scheduled to be operational by 2023.
With the UAE nuclear program launched, it will encourage other Arab states to begin their nuclear quest for power as Egypt and Saudi Arabia have been pushing in recent months to launch their nuclear power programs.
