Israel enters lockdown ahead of muted Independence Day celebrations

Lockdown allows people to venture 100 meters outside their homes and engage in sporting activities some 500 meters outside their houses. Bathing at the beach is still forbidden.
Police said hundreds of patrols will enforce the health directives and fine anyone violating the lockdown. “We urge the public to comply with health directives and follow police orders to make sure the citizens of Israel remain safe,” said the police’s traffic department.
