(Worthy News) – Iran has defended an anti-Israel poster published by the country’s leader calling for ”the final solution,” amid accusations that he wants genocide against Jews.

The term “final solution” is usually associated with Nazi Germany’s efforts to eliminate all Jewish people.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei shared the poster on his website this week to celebrate Quds Day, the annual Iranian rally for the destruction of Israel.

The poster shows people celebrating at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem with the Palestinian flag raised over Al-Aqsa Mosque. The image depicts Jerusalem being captured from Israeli authorities.

The text above the image says: “Palestine Will Be Free. The final solution: Resistance until the referendum.”

In separate comments, Iran’s Islamic leader called for Muslims around the world to unite against Israel and U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan, which he called “satanic.” He appealed for the arming of Palestinians after Iran already sponsored terror groups.

Germany joined Israel and the United States in condemning the poster and comments. In a statement published by The Jerusalem Post newspaper, Germany’s Foreign Ministry said that ”the federal government sharply condemns all glorification and legitimizing of terror.” That includes ”calls for the annihilation of Israel, inciting terrorist acts or spreading antisemitic content, ” the ministry stressed.

”Such hostile comments to Israel are in no way acceptable. Israel’s right to exist is not negotiable. The federal republic regularly addresses critical points in all areas in an open way with Iran”, it added. The European Union’s foreign policy chief also denounced Khamenei’s call to destroy Israel.

Earlier, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted the Islamic Republic over the poster.

However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry lashed out at the International outcry. Citing the Nazi murder of Jews in the Holocaust during World War Two, Foreign Mohammad Javad Zarif said it was “disgusting” for especially Israel to object to the poster. He claimed the poster advocated for a referendum on what type of government Palestinians want.

”Disgusting that those whose civilization found a ‘Final Solution” in gas chambers attack those who seek a real solution at the ballot box, through a REFERENDUM,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter website.
