(Worthy News) – A leader of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) organization has said the US government is similar to a looter because it “pillages different countries,” Fox News reported. BLM of Greater New York Chair Hawk Newsome made his remarks in an interview on Fox News’  ‘The Story’ Tuesday, following former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s description a day earlier of BLM as a domestic terrorist organization.

During the interview with host Martha MacCallum, Newsome responded to Giuliani’s assertion by asking: “So when America goes and steals diamonds and oils, who’s calling us terrorists? When the American government goes and pillages different countries, who’s calling us terrorists?” MacCallum sought to clarify that Giuliani was referring to those engaged in looting stores, not those who have been protesting peacefully.

As the interview progressed, MacCallum referred to recent comments made by Chicago BLM activist Ariel Atkins, who said looting was a form of reparations. Newsome would not be drawn on whether he agreed with Atkins that it is acceptable for BLM protestors to loot high end stores like Gucci and Nike as means of obtaining reparations.

Instead, Newsome said: “The problem with oppression and White supremacy is, White supremacy will have you criticizing the oppressed and worshiping the oppressors,” he said. “Now, if you want to talk to me about reparations, nothing falls short of a solution other than people cutting a check. If you want to do something about reparations, cut the check.”

“And we’re not talking about going in everyday Americans’ pockets,” Newsome added. “We’re talking about banks like Brown Brothers Harriman, who benefited from slavery. Other insurance companies that sold insurance policies on slaves. We’re talking about the American government that was founded on the backs of slaves.
