(Worthy News) – A new Gallup poll taken before the Jan. 20 inauguration of President Joe Biden shows 11% of Americans are satisfied with the condition of the US. Reporting its poll results, Gallup specifies it found Republicans’ satisfaction with the US tied with Independents’ at 14%, compared to Democrats’ level of 5%.

In its analysis of the results, Gallup noted: “January is a transition month between administrations. Satisfaction among those identifying with the party of the outgoing president typically drops before satisfaction among those identifying with the party of the incoming president begins to rise, thus keeping the overall average satisfaction level low.”

The latest reading is a tie with the 11% levels of November 2008 and of August and September 2011. Gallup noted that the current 11% satisfaction level is several percentage points higher than the lowest-ever level of 7% in 2008.

According to Gallup, the average percentage of satisfaction with the US during former President Donald Trump’s term from February 2017 through January 2021 was 30%. “That is below the average satisfaction reading of 36% since Gallup began asking the question in 1979. And, as noted, the 11% reading in the final days of Trump’s administration goes on record as one of the lowest in Gallup’s trend,” Gallup said. October 2008 (7% and 9% in two separate surveys) and December 2008 (10%) saw the other lowest levels.

However, average satisfaction during Trump’s overall term was slightly higher than the averages for Barack Obama’s two terms (23% and 26%, respectively) and George W. Bush’s second term (28%), Gallup said.
