(Worthy News) – Christian women worldwide face the worst persecution and attacks in years, according to a new study obtained by Worthy News.

Global Christian watchdog Open Doors International said forced marriages increased by 16 percent and physical violence against women by 31 percent over the past year.

Its 2021 “Same Faith, Different Persecution” report on gender-specific religious persecution (GSRP) noted that Christian women suffer the highest level of persecution since the report was first issued in 2018.

The report said women face a higher potential risk of religious persecution than men. The data come from Open Doors’ annual World Watch List of 50 nations where Christians reportedly suffer most for their faith.

Helene Fisher, a global gender persecution specialist for Open Doors International, expressed concern about the impact the persecution of women has on the Church. “Women are more vulnerable in the society, and they are just the easiest way to disable the Christian population.”
