(Worthy News) – Coronavirus cases dropped to a record low in Texas after the U.S. state lifted its mask mandate, reopened businesses, and despite an influx of COVID-19 suffering migrants entering illegally, statistics show.

“Today, the 7-day Covid positivity rate dropped to a new record low: 4.95%. Hospitalizations dropped to a 6 month low,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote on social networking site Twitter.

The decline came a full three weeks after the state lifted the mask mandate and further reopened its economy, despite pressure from the White House to maintain restrictions.

The governor added that Texas will also have coronavirus vaccines for those who want them. “This week, we have 1 million 1st vaccines available,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote. “Everyone now qualifies for a shot. They are highly recommended to prevent getting COVID but always voluntary,” he added.

Despite a surge of thousands of migrants, including minors and others infected with COVID-19 on the Mexico border crossing illegally into Texas, often without wearing masks, overall cases keep plummeting.

Graphics obtained by Worthy News showed that on March 2, 2021, there were 6,600 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Texas. That changed by March 21, 2021, where there were three times fewer, just 1,677 new coronavirus cases, reported.

As of Monday, Texas recorded more than 2.3 million confirmed coronavirus cases and at least 47,156 deaths on a state population of some 30 million people.

The more open coronavirus policies in Texas and Florida reportedly contributed to skyrocketing real estate prices in both states, with many Americans from other areas moving in.
