(Worthy News) – Residents of New Jersey will be able to access their COVID-19 vaccination data through a mobile Docket app, although Gov. Phil Murphy says the app is not intended to be a vaccine passport, Just the News reports. The app has been approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Anyone who has filed their email address or phone number with the New Jersey Immunization Information System will be able to access their COVID-19 vaccination record through the new app, the New Jersey Department of Health said in a statement.

Republicans in the state accused Murphy of rolling out a vaccine passport in the form of an app, Just the News reports. In a statement, the New Jersey Republican party said: “Despite [Murphy’s] insistence that this is not a vaccine passport, we know from previous statements that Governor Murphy was among some of the first leaders in the country to float the idea … An app that stores our vaccination records? Sounds like a passport to us!”

However, at a briefing on Monday, Murphy said the app is certainly not a vaccine passport. “Docket is intended to solely give residents easy access to their COVID vaccination record, especially if their vaccination card has been damaged or lost,” Murphy attested.

The app will currently only hold data about coronavirus vaccinations, although New Jersey health officials are considering expanding it to include other inoculations, Just the News said.
