(Worthy News) – The preaching grandson of the late evangelist Billy Graham was released from hospital after battling the Delta variant of the coronavirus and pneumonia, his mother confirmed.

Jonathan Lotz, 51, an ordained evangelical minister and a cancer survivor, was admitted to the intensive care unit last month in critical condition.

However, “Praise God!! Jonathan is home!!” declared his mother Anne Graham Lotz on her Facebook website late Sunday.

“Eight days ago, he was admitted to [the Intensive Care Unit] ICU with COVID—SARS—the Delta Variant—and pneumonia,” she recalled. And Lotz told her followers on Facebook: “Today he was discharged from the hospital! God has heard and answered your prayers for my son!”

Lotz, who has preached around the U.S. state of North Carolina and the country, is one of three adult children of Anne Graham Lotz and the late Danny Lotz.

LOTZ MINISTRIES

He directs Jonathan Lotz Ministries and grew up in Raleigh. Lotz previously worked with his grandfather Billy Graham, one of the most influential Christian leaders of all time.

He continued talking about Christ while in hospital, according to a text message to his mother sent from his hospital bed: “I am physically exhausted yet Spiritually overflowing!” he wrote. “I am continually pouring over the Psalms of Ascent (120-134) in ICU. I have had the privilege of sharing Jesus with the [Emergency Room] ER & ICU staff! What a Savior! God is so good!”

Lotz is also a cancer survivor, according to his website.

His high-profile battle with the virus came as authorities warned that the threat of the more contagious Delta variant is rising in North Carolina.

In July, hospitalizations from the virus more than doubled in the state, and they are expected to continue rising in the coming weeks, officials say.

UNVACCINATED AMERICANS

Critics complain that authorities put pressure on unvaccinated Americans to get the experimental coronavirus jabs that have possible side effects. Vaccine supporters say the benefits outweigh the risks.

North Carolina state officials claim that unvaccinated individuals are making up the majority of new cases and hospitalizations.

Most people survive COVID-19. But those with underlying health conditions such as preacher Jonathan Lotz and the elderly may suffer and even die of coronavirus-related symptoms.

Referring to Bible verse Philippians 1:3-6, Lotz’s mother, a Bible teacher, said God “has begun a good work…in Jonathan” and “will carry it on to completion.”

However, she urged her online followers “to pray for his swift recovery and restoration to full health with no setbacks or complications. And that I can take good care of him.”

She added: “Blessing upon blessing to each of you who have helped carry him in prayer.”
