‘Terrorist Incident In Liverpool’

(Worthy News) – British police say they treat a deadly bomb blast in a taxi outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital on Remembrance as a “terror incident.”
A taxi exploded Sunday and was engulfed in flames just before 11:00 local time at a drop-off zone near the entrance, killing the passenger and injuring the driver, police said.
The driver, named locally as David Perry, was declared a hero by Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson for locking the main suspect inside the vehicle.
The taxi passenger appeared to have made an “improvised explosive device” which caused the blast, explained Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North West Russ Jackson.
Four men have been detained in the city in connection with the incident when Britain is already on high alert following previous acts of terrorism.
“The taxi driver, in his heroic efforts, has managed to divert what could have been an absolutely awful disaster,” Anderson stressed. “We knew the taxi driver had stood out; the taxi driver locked the doors. Our thanks go to him.”
The motivation for the attack was “yet to be understood,” according to police investigators.
Detectives from Counter Terrorism Police North West said three other suspects, all men – aged 29, 26, and 21 – were detained in the Kensington area of the city following the blast late on Sunday.
