KYIV (Worthy News) – Ukrainian officials say a Russian missile hit the regional administration building in the southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv, killing at least seven people and wounding 22.

The attack came despite Kremlin pledges to reduce military activities around key cities such as the capital Kyiv as it focuses its ongoing invasion on eastern Ukraine.

Eighteen of the wounded were pulled from the rubble by rescue workers on Tuesday, who continue to work at the scene, the emergencies service announced.

Footage from the state rescue service showed a gaping hole in the side of the building, with firefighters extinguishing a fire as the injured were put on stretchers.

People were still beneath the wreckage and a blood patch was visible in the debris. Shattered glass and upturned furniture were seen strewn on the floor in the offices inside the building.

“This is just a nightmare. A girl died on my floor. What can I say? Are you kidding? I hugged her, two minutes passed, and she passed,” said a woman who was helped out of the building by rescuers.

“They destroyed half of the building and got into my office,” regional governor Vitaliy Kim added.

The attack came as Ukrainian-Russian peace talks in Turkey made some progress though not enough to reach a ceasefire, observers said.

Moscow had promised to reduce military activities around key cities including the capital Kyiv.

However, attacks have continued in several parts of the war-torn nation.
