Biden Signs Abortion Mandate Despite Court Ruling

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – U.S. President Joe Biden has signed an executive order “to protect” access to abortion after the Supreme Court ended a constitutional right to the procedure two weeks ago.
The order came amid mounting pressure from fellow Democratic Party members to be more forceful on the subject.
He made clear the actions he outlined are to mitigate some potential penalties women seeking abortion may face after the ruling.
Biden acknowledged the limitations facing his office, saying it would require an act of Congress to restore nationwide access to the way it was before the June 24 decision.
“The fastest way to restore Roe is to pass a national law,” Biden said. He referred to the Roe v. Wade ruling, which declared abortion a nationwide constitutional right.
“The challenge is go out and vote. For God’s sake, there is an election in November.!” Biden, a self-professing Catholic, said.
IMPASSIONATE REMARKS
He delivered impassioned remarks Friday condemning the “extreme” Supreme Court majority that ended the constitutional right. Americans upset by the decision should “vote, vote, vote” in November, Biden said.
The actions Biden outlined are intended to mitigate some potential penalties that women seeking abortion may face after the ruling. But his order cannot restore access to abortion in the more than a dozen states where strict limits or total bans have gone into effect.
About a dozen more states are set to impose additional restrictions.
The Catholic president’s efforts to restore abortion rights have raised questions within the Vatican.
Unlike Biden, the Vatican has praised the U.S. Supreme Court for what it says is standing for life and reversing the country’s nearly 50-year stance on abortion.
The Vatican also encouraged activists to understand being “pro-life” means supporting other issues, including all those that threaten life, like guns, poverty, and rising maternity mortality rates.
