(Worthy News) – A security guard at the Mall of America in Minnesota, USA, earlier this month ordered a man wearing a “Jesus Saves” t-shirt to either remove the garment or leave the premises, the Washington Times reports. The January 7 incident was captured in video footage which went viral and sparked outrage on social media.

Wearing the Jesus Saves t-shirt, which also had a crossed-out religious harmony Coexist sign on the back, Paul Shoro was stopped by a Mall of America security guard who told him the message on his shirt was offensive. “Jesus is associated with religion, and it’s offending people,” the guard said.

While Shoro acknowledged he had been ordered to leave the mall a week earlier because he had been sharing his religious beliefs with customers, he explained this time, he was only shopping at Macy’s.

In response, the guard said: “Again, we’re giving you a couple of options,” one of the security guards said to Mr. Shoro. “You can take your shirt off, you can go to Macy’s and do your shopping, or you can leave the mall. Those are your only options right now.”

The mall has a policy barring “racial/religious/ethnic slurs that are likely to create a disturbance” at the mall, according to its policy, the Times said. A mall spokesperson told the Daily Mail that Shoro was allowed to stay and continue shopping without removing the shirt.
