US: 11 States Under Winter Storm Warnings

(Worthy News) – Eleven states in America are now under Winter Storm warnings, with heavy, potentially dangerous rain and snow forecast for parts of the Northwest, the Rocky Mountains and eastern United States, Newsweek reports.

The warnings are for areas in the states of Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wyoming.

The National Weather Service forecast on Sunday that “multi-day atmospheric river events will continue to impact the Northwest and the Rockies with heavy rain and significant mountain snowfall” on Sunday and into Monday, Newsweek reports. Newsweek summarized the winter storm warnings that are currently in effect as follows below.

Colorado: “Forecasters have warned that visibility will be near zero at times, and snow-covered roads will make travel hazardous and potentially life-threatening. Heavy snow is forecast for parts of Idaho, Forecasters warn that travel could be very difficult to impossible at times.”

Maine: “Heavy snow is expected in parts of south central, west central and western Maine.” Nevada: “Nevada’s Northern Elko County, Rocky Mountains and East Humboldt Range are expected to see heavy snow on Sunday, and winds gusting as high as 40 mph.”

New Hampshire: “Winter storm warnings are in effect for Northern Carroll, Northern Coos and Southern Coos counties, with heavy snow expected until Monday afternoon.” New York: “Heavy snow is expected in Western Clinton County, and total snow accumulations of between 3 and 8 inches.”

Oregon: “A winter storm warning is in effect for the northern Blue Mountains of Oregon, with ‘heavy mixed precipitation’ expected until 10 a.m. PST on Sunday.” Utah: “Warnings are in effect for Wasatch Back, Wasatch Mountains I-80 North, Wasatch Mountains South of I-80 and Western Uinta Mountains.”

Vermont: “Heavy snow is expected in Orleans and Essex counties from Sunday afternoon until 10 a.m. EST on Monday.” Washington: “Heavy mixed precipitation is expected in the Northwest Blue Mountains until 10 a.m. PST on Sunday.” Wyoming: “Heavy snow is expected in Yellowstone National Park.”
