(Worthy News) – Iran has developed a new, especially designed “explosive and reconnaissance” attack drone that it plans to sell to Russia for its ongoing war against Ukraine, an informed source has told Sky News. US and Western power supporting Ukraine have previously accused Iran of supplying Russia with hundreds of one-way “suicide” drones that explode on impact with their target.

The Sky News source said Iran’s new Shahed-107 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may be equipped with technology to help it specifically target the British and American multiple-launch rocket systems used by Ukraine’s military in resisting Russia’s invasion.

According to the Sky News source, Iran may have offered “a few units” of the new drone to Russia in a deal estimated to be worth more than $2m (£1.6m). This deal reflects “the significant force design work Iran is engaged in to support Russia’s interests regarding Ukraine,” the source told Sky News.

The source said the new drone is around 2.5 meters long and has a wingspan of three meters, Sky News reports. The UAV has an estimated range of up to 1,500km (932 miles), the source said.

In a separate statement to Sky News, a Ukrainian source said: “We have huge concerns about possible supplies of the mentioned types of the drones.” Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “relies a lot on the Iranian drones, constantly modernizing them,” the Ukrainian source said.”They try to make them faster to force Ukrainian defense forces to use more expensive air defense systems.”
