Trump Confirms U.S. Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Calls for Peace Amid Rising Tensions

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump announced Saturday night that U.S. forces have carried out major airstrikes against three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities, marking a dramatic escalation in the ongoing conflict between Tehran, Washington, and Jerusalem.
In a nationally televised address and a series of social media posts, Trump said the U.S. targeted Iran’s underground Fordow enrichment plant, the Natanz uranium facility, and the Isfahan nuclear complex. The strikes were coordinated with Israel, which has led the military campaign against Iran’s nuclear program since launching its own attacks last week.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran airspace,” Trump declared. “A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Now is the time for peace.”
According to Fox News, Trump confirmed that American forces used “five to six” GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bunker-buster bombs to strike Fordow, a site buried deep beneath a mountain near Qom. Natanz and Isfahan were hit by 30 Tomahawk missiles launched from U.S. submarines.
Global Reactions and Threats
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization condemned the strikes as a violation of international law, accusing the U.S. of breaching the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Iranian state media claimed that key facilities and uranium stockpiles had been evacuated ahead of the strikes. Meanwhile, an Iranian state broadcaster warned that American soldiers and civilians in the region are now “legitimate targets.”
U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres expressed grave concern, calling the operation “a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge — and a direct threat to international peace and security.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s decision, calling it “bold” and “historic.” In a video message, Netanyahu said, “President Trump acted to deny the world’s most dangerous regime the world’s most dangerous weapons. His leadership today has created a pivot of history that can help lead the Middle East and beyond to a future of prosperity and peace.”
Domestic Debate
The strikes ignited fierce debate in Washington. House Speaker Mike Johnson said the action “serves as a clear reminder that President Trump means what he says,” while Sen. Lindsey Graham called it “the right call” and “what leadership on the world stage looks like.”
However, critics including Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) blasted the move as unconstitutional and unauthorized by Congress. Khanna wrote on social media, “Trump struck Iran without any authorization from Congress.”
Aimed at Diplomacy or Escalation?
The Trump administration reportedly sent a message to Tehran after the attack, emphasizing that Washington is not seeking regime change and that the strikes were limited to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Trump, who has long campaigned against “forever wars,” insisted the goal remains peace through strength.
“This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Iran must now agree to end this war.”
As the world watches for Tehran’s response, military analysts warn that Iran and its regional proxies may retaliate against American forces or allies, risking a wider war in an already volatile region.
