WASHINGTON/TEHRAN/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – More than 20 people were injured in Israel early Sunday as Iran pounded the Jewish nation with missiles after the United States destroyed three Iranian nuclear sites.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they observed about 20 to 30 missiles fired from Iran towards central and northern Israel, hitting targets in the “Coastal, Central, and Dan” districts, including buildings and cars.

Witnesses spoke about “loud booms” being heard across Israel, and Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said they were en route to at least 10 crash sites.

The IDF Home Front confirmed that at least 23 civilians were wounded in four locations from Iran’s latest attack, including 13 in the Tel Aviv area, six in Nes Tziona, three in Haifa, and one on a highway near Beer Yaakov.

“Only the Beer Yaakov individual was moderately wounded, with all other wounds being defined as light, despite initial incorrect reports of multiple severe injuries,” Israeli sources said.

The first barrage was around 20 missiles, while the second salvo was under 10, the Israeli military explained, adding there had been “an error” with sirens alerting people in the Haifa area.

Initial reports also mentioned crashes in northern and central Israel, including Haifa, causing extensive building destruction.

MASSIVE US STRIKES

Tehran’s retaliatory strikes followed the U.S.’s massive strikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites.

“Congratulations, President Trump, your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities will change history,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a televised address.

He stressed that Trump “did what no other country could do,” adding that the United States acted with strength following strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Earlier in a nationally televised address and a series of social media posts, U.S. President Donald J. Trump said the U.S. targeted Iran’s underground Fordow enrichment plant, the Natanz uranium facility, and the Isfahan nuclear complex, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief Emmitt Barry reported. “Tonight I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success,” Trump said.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran’s airspace,” Trump declared. “A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Now is the time for peace.”

The strikes were coordinated with Israel, which has led the military campaign against Iran’s nuclear program since launching its attacks last week, Worthy News learned.

Although millions were forced to spend much of the night in shelters, Israelis were quick to put Iran’s attacks in perspective, with Larry M. Goldstein writing on The Jerusalem Post website: “Iran has no other response. No air force, no navy, no crypto warriors to speak of. They have a declining inventory of missiles, and a declining inventory of operative launchers — within one week, not even that,” he observed. “Iran’s three key nuclear sites have been destroyed, and this is the strongest reaction they can muster. We should be encouraged by this action, not discouraged.”

‘MAJOR DESTRUCTION’ NOTICED

Yet the MDA noted “major destruction” in the Coastal, Central, and Dan districts, especially in central Israel, where buildings collapsed from the hits.

“Those being treated include one in moderate condition, a man about 30 years old with shrapnel injury to his upper body. Others have light injuries and bruises,” MDA said.

MDA teams have been scanning additional sites for additional people wounded from the impacts. “This is a scene of major destruction,” MDA emergency paramedic Moti Nissan said on the scene in central Israel.

“Several two-story residential buildings were severely damaged, and some collapsed. We arrived at the scene and immediately began searching with firefighting forces and the Home Front Command. We are prepared on site to provide medical treatment if additional casualties are found during the searches,” Nissan added.

The military said that defensive systems were operating to intercept the threats, and the public was instructed “to enter a protected space and remain there until further notice.”

Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds injured in the Iranian attacks hitting Israel since last week, according to authorities, while in Iran, hundreds have reportedly been killed, including top commanders and other key officials.
