MIAMI/KYIV/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – Ukraine’s military says it is attempting to halt a Russian incursion into a border village in the northeastern Sumy region, even as diplomatic efforts continue to seek an end to the nearly four-year war.

Ukrainian officials reported fighting near the village of Grabovske, where Russian forces allegedly forcibly relocated around 50 civilians.
Observers say the clashes mark a significant escalation in an area that had been mainlyspared intense ground combat since Ukraine regained territory there during a counteroffensive in 2022.
On Saturday, Russia’s military claimed it had captured the nearby village of Vysoke, a short distance from Grabovske.
Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed that claim.
FIGHTING CONTINUES DESPITE DIPLOMACY
The renewed violence comes despite U.S.-backed efforts to bring Ukraine and Russia closer to a possible peace settlement.
Diplomats from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia were all present on Sunday at the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach, where discussions focused on ways to end the conflict.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the talks showed that Washington remains committed to pursuing a diplomatic solution. “We are going to work as long as it takes,” Rubio added.
“These are the meetings you know about, but there are talks ongoing every single day. There are phone calls every day. There is work going on every single day that leads up to these meetings and follows these meetings.”
TRILATERAL TALKS REMAIN UNCERTAIN
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said over the weekend that Washington favors a trilateral format involving the United States, Ukraine, and Russia – a move that would be a rare return to direct talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
However, Zelenskyy expressed skepticism that such negotiations would lead to meaningful progress, while Russian officials downplayed the prospects of any trilateral meeting.
Yet U.S. and Ukrainian envoys described the Miami discussions as productive and constructive,” although they announced no apparent breakthrough in efforts to end the Russian invasion.
Observers also noted that while diplomats from the three countries were staying in the same hotel, there was no genuine three-way session in which all sides negotiated together in a single room.
As diplomatic maneuvering continues, fighting on the battlefield shows little sign of easing.
