Netanyahu Moves Up Security Cabinet Talks Ahead of U.S.–Iran Nuclear Negotiations

(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene his security cabinet this afternoon, moving up planned deliberations ahead of high-stakes nuclear talks between the United States and Iran scheduled to take place in Oman.
The meeting comes a day before senior U.S. officials are expected to engage Iran’s foreign minister, as Washington presses Tehran to accept stricter limits on its nuclear and missile programs. On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei “should be very worried” ahead of the negotiations.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the talks must go beyond nuclear issues, stressing that Iran’s ballistic missile program, its sponsorship of terrorist groups across the region, and its treatment of its own population must also be addressed.
Iran, however, has signaled it is only willing to discuss its nuclear program — and not on U.S. terms. Washington is demanding that Tehran halt domestic uranium enrichment and export all enriched stockpiles out of the country, conditions Iran has so far rejected. As a result, officials on both sides acknowledge that the chances of a breakthrough remain slim.
“At the end of the day, the United States is prepared to engage,” Rubio said, adding that any meaningful agreement would have to include missiles, terrorism, nuclear activity, and human rights concerns.
