Trump Signals Possible National Guard Deployment as Airport Delays Mount Amid Shutdown

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is considering calling up the National Guard to assist federal agents at airports as long lines and delays intensify during the ongoing partial government shutdown.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump placed blame squarely on Democrats, accusing them of fueling a growing travel crisis by refusing to reach a funding agreement for key homeland security operations.

“Blame the Democrats for the Airport’s mess,” Trump wrote, arguing that political obstruction has led to staffing shortages and significant slowdowns at security checkpoints nationwide.

The disruptions have been linked in part to reduced staffing at the Transportation Security Administration, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security and has been affected by the prolonged funding impasse. Reports indicate wait times have surged at several major airports during an already busy travel season.

The president praised Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers already assisting at airports, calling them “great ICE Patriots” and crediting their presence with helping ease some of the pressure.

Still, Trump signaled that additional measures could be taken if conditions worsen.

“I may call up the National Guard for more help,” he said.

Administration officials emphasized that ICE personnel remain funded and available for deployment, framing their use as a practical step to maintain security and reduce delays.

Trump also accused Democrats of refusing to negotiate unless provisions tied to amnesty and expanded citizenship are included in any agreement.

“The Democrats don’t want to make any deal unless Amnesty and Citizenship is given to millions of Criminals who have entered our Country illegally,” he wrote.

Beyond the policy dispute, the president suggested broader political motivations, alleging that opposition lawmakers are attempting to create domestic instability to distract from recent U.S. military developments abroad.

The potential use of the National Guard highlights the seriousness of the situation, as federal authorities seek to maintain order and ensure safe travel despite the ongoing shutdown.
