(Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that Pam Bondi will step down as U.S. attorney general, marking a significant leadership transition at the Department of Justice.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump praised Bondi as “a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend,” while confirming that her deputy, Todd Blanche, will serve as acting attorney general during the transition.

“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown on crime across our country,” Trump said, adding that murder rates have fallen to historic lows during her tenure.

Bondi, who was confirmed by the Senate in early 2025, said she will spend the coming weeks assisting with the transition before moving into a new private-sector role that will be announced soon. She emphasized that she will continue supporting the administration’s agenda in her next position.

During her time leading the Justice Department, Bondi highlighted major law enforcement achievements, including aggressive action against violent crime, gang networks, and cartel operations. She also pointed to multiple favorable rulings at the Supreme Court and efforts to restore public trust in federal law enforcement.

Her tenure, however, was not without controversy. Bondi faced bipartisan criticism over the handling and release of documents related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. She defended the process, stating the administration prioritized transparency while managing a vast volume of records under tight timelines.

Blanche, stepping into the acting role, expressed gratitude for Bondi’s leadership and pledged continuity.

“We will continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe,” he said.

The leadership change comes as the administration continues to emphasize law-and-order priorities and broader justice system reforms.
