Mossad Supplied Kurdish Militias With Captured Arms in Failed Bid to Pressure Iran

(Worthy News) – Israel’s Mossad reportedly carried out a covert operation to supply Kurdish militias with weapons and military aid as part of a broader effort to destabilize Iran’s ruling regime, according to recent investigative reports in Israeli media.
The operation allegedly included arms seized by the Israel Defense Forces during campaigns against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Those weapons were reportedly transferred to Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, along with ammunition, anti-tank missiles, grenades, mortar shells, vehicles, and financial support.
The reported objective was to strengthen Kurdish paramilitary forces near Iran’s borders and increase pressure on Tehran from within, potentially sparking a wider internal uprising against the Islamic Republic.
According to the reports, the plan was originally envisioned as a joint Mossad-CIA initiative. Mossad chief David Barnea reportedly presented the strategy to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior officials in Washington before the latest regional hostilities erupted.
Netanyahu was said to have strongly backed the plan, viewing it as a way to weaken Iran’s central authority and hasten the decline of a regime that has long threatened Israel and supported terror proxies across the region.
However, the effort was reportedly abandoned after President Donald Trump halted the joint operation following strong objections from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Ankara has consistently opposed moves that could strengthen Kurdish armed groups, warning that such support could threaten Turkey’s national security and encourage Kurdish autonomy movements.
The decision reportedly ended planned incursions and stopped further arms and equipment transfers, effectively shutting down the CIA-Mossad framework.
The revelations come amid continued regional tension involving Iran, Israel, Turkey, and U.S.-backed security efforts in the Middle East, where Kurdish groups have often found themselves caught between competing powers.
