Robertson to Focus on Ministry, Roberta Combs Becomes Next President of Christian Coalition of Ameri
Washington, DC – With a profound sense of gratitude and deepest appreciation for his selfless sacrifices on behalf of grassroots Christian citizens across America, the Christian Coalition Board of Directors today accepted the resignation of Founder and President Dr. Pat Robertson and elected him the organization’s first President Emeritus. Roberta Combs, who had been Executive Vice President, was elected to succeed Robertson as President.
“Pat Robertson’s vision and tremendous sacrifice to give Christians a seat at the table was the inspiration for millions who are now in their communities actively defending America’s Godly heritage,†said Roberta Combs. “These grassroots activities and leaders are the legacy of Pat’s vision and sacrifice. During this time of national crisis, as Americans are turning to prayer in record numbers, it is imperative that Christian Coalition continue to build on the solid foundation with a new generation of leadership who are also committed to giving Christians a voice and defending America’s Godly heritage.â€
“While we will miss Pat’s active role, I pledge to redouble my efforts in the coming year to train and mobilize grassroots activists across the country through our leadership training schools, and to continue the distribution of our successful non-partisan voter guides and congressional scorecards to Americans nationwide prior to the 2002 elections.â€
The Coalition will continue to focus on representing the Christian point of view before local councils, state legislatures and Congress; proclaim our values in the public arena and in the media; train leaders for effective social and political action; inform Christians about issues and legislation; and take a stand against anti-Christian bigotry.
