Obama Florida Campaign Chair Appointed to Helm Super PAC’s 2020 Efforts Against Trump

(Worthy News) – For Our Future, a liberal super PAC run by hedge-fund billionaire Tom Steyer, announced Friday that it would roll out its largest budget to-date in an effort to combat President Trump in seven swings states he won in 2016.

The PAC has reportedly devoted $80 million to $90 million dollars to grassroots organizing aimed at beating Trump in Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin, appointing former Obama Florida campaign manager Ashley Walker, who enabled Obama to win that state in both 2008 and 2012, to helm the effort.

“Over the cycles, we’ve gotten smarter and better at what we do,” Walker said, with For Our Future intending to begin phone calls and door-to-door solicitations to Florida voters at the end of this year—almost a year in advance of the 2020 elections and six months earlier than it did in 2016.

“For Our Future is one of the most effective and important progressive grassroots organizations in the country, and their work will be integral to the 2020 outcome,” said Heather Hargreaves, director of Steyer’s NextGen organization.

Tom Steyer is also the founder of the San Francisco-based Need to Impeach, which has garnered 8 million signatures for its petition calling on Congress to impeach President Trump and is the third largest political organization in the country behind the Democratic and Republican parties.

For Our Future describes itself on its website as “a people-driven organization committed to serving progressive values.”
