(Worthy News) – Israeli defense minister Naftali Bennett virtually announced a new war with Hamas in Gaza Tuesday, a day after the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror group launched 80 rockets and mortars into Israel.

Bennett said that plans for the offensive had already been drawn up with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and qualified that the upcoming war “will be completely different” from earlier attempts by the Israeli military to quell terrorism in Gaza.

“I have come to the conclusion that there is a 95% chance it is inevitable that we will have to launch a large campaign to restart Gaza,” he told the Jerusalem Post. “It’s always a last resort to go to war. But this time it will be on our terms with our timing and with a very clear vision of the day after.”

The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted 90% of the rockets and mortars that were fired into Israel by the Iran-backed terror group over Sunday and Monday.
