Christians slain by Islamists in Democratic Republic of Congo

by Jordan Hilger, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Eleven Christians were murdered by Islamists in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on February 18, as the majority Christian nation is beset by a former rebel group now allied to ISIS.

The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) killed the Christians in Mutwanga District following raids earlier in the day on four villages in North Kivu province, where the group has vowed to establish a caliphate.

“There is a pattern, every time the military in the DRC mount an operation against the ADF, the civilians are attacked as retribution,” a contact explained to Barnabus Fund.

At 95% of the population, the Democratic Republic of Congo is “one of the most Christianized countries in the world,” according to Open Doors USA, but Islamic radicalism is turning it into a lethal place for believers.
