Additional information surfaces about kidnapping of Christian Rohingya pastor

(Worthy News) – More information has surfaced about an attack on Rohingya Christian refugees in a Bangladeshi refugee camp last month by their fellow Muslim Rohingya, confirming earlier reports about the brutal assault.

Fortify Rights confirmed the earlier information given by Human Rights Watch about the abduction of Pastor Taher and his fourteen year-old daughter, Morning Star News reports, and provided additional details about the kidnapping.

“He was beaten so badly with sticks. He was beaten and kicked with their fists and legs,” an unnamed witness told Fortify Rights. “They put a mask on his face and tied his hands. He was abducted because he is a Christian leader, and they will try to make him Muslim.”

About 1,500 Rohingya Christians were forced to flee Burma along with 700,000 of their Muslim brethren in a 2017 genocide by the Burmese military, and now reside in refugee camps in neighboring Bangladesh, which is 38th on Open Doors USA’s World Watch List.
