US Vetoes UN Resolution That Does Not Require Countries to Take Back Their Foreign Fighters

The resolution on the prosecution, rehabilitation and reintegration of foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs) won the support of all 14 other members of the council – voting remotely because of the COVID-19 pandemic – but the veto cast by U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Kelly Craft killed it.
Introduced by non-permanent member Indonesia, the resolution sought to address how to deal with FTFs and their family members, tens of thousands of whom are still being held in northeastern Syria. [ Source: CNS News (Read More…) ]
