Saudi Prince says Palestinians are rotting in Israeli concentration camps

saudi arabia map worthy ministries(Worthy News) – Leading Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal has described Israel as a Western colonizing power that is holding Palestinians in concentration camps, Ynet News reports. Formerly the Saudi ambassador to the US and the UK and head of Saudi intelligence, Prince Turki made his remarks Sunday at the Bahrain Security Conference.

In his remarks to the security conference, at which Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi was also in attendance, Prince Turki said: ” [Israel has] incarcerated [Palestinians] in concentration camps under the flimsiest of security accusations— young and old, women and men, who are rotting there without recourse to justice. They are demolishing homes as they wish and they assassinate whomever they want.”

Although Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has expressed interest in working with Israel in a stand against Iran, Prince Turki’s comments about Israel are believed to echo the opinions of Saudi King Salman, Ynet News reports.

While the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have reached normalization agreements with Israel, Saudi Arabia has said that any similar deal it signs must contain provisions to help the Palestinians achieve their own state.

Speaking immediately after Faisal concluded his remarks, Ashkenazi responded: “I would like to express my regret on the comments of the Saudi representative. I don’t believe that they reflect the spirit and the changes taking place in the Middle East,” Ynet News reports.
