(Worthy News) – Declared President-elect Joe Biden urged President Donald J. Trump to “end this siege” after a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. to protest alleged election fraud.

At least one person was shot and killed as a violent crowd moved inside the building where the Congress met to certify Biden’s declared Electoral College victory.

A woman was apparently shot in the neck in a standoff with police, and paramedics rushed to move her out of the building, according to video footage seen by Worthy News.

Amid the turmoil, lawmakers were rushed from the building where American media reported that one possible explosive device was found.

“Electoral college ballots rescued from the Senate floor. If our capable floor staff hadn’t grabbed them, they would have been burned by the mob,” wrote Senator Jeff Merkley on social networking site Twitter.

Separately at least two explosive devices were discovered in Washington, including one at the Beltway headquarters of the Republican National Committee, The New York Times newspaper reported.

Another suspicious package was reportedly being investigated at Democratic National Committee headquarters, though it was not immediately determined to be an explosive.

As crowds reached offices, Trump released a video message urging his supporters, some of whom stormed the US Capitol with firearms, to “go home.” He was also praising them as “very special.”

“I know your pain; I know your hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it, especially the other side,” Trump said. He referred to numerous reports of fraud, including alleged ballot stuffing, voting machine tampering, and corruption.

“But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order,” Trump said.

His appeal came while declared U.S. President-elect Biden asked Trump to “fulfill his oath and defend the Constitution – and demand an end to this siege”.

“The attack on the Capitol is not a protest, it’s an insurrection,” Biden added in a statement.

He complained that the escalating unrest put an abrupt halt to a joint session of Congress scheduled to certify Biden’s election win as the next president. “Democracy is fragile,” said Biden. “To preserve it requires leaders who are devoted not in personal power, but in the common good.”

It came as even U.S. Vice President Mike Pence defied Trump, saying he can’t reject electoral votes that declared Biden to be the winner.

The turmoil began after huge crowds gathered in Washington D.C. for a vocal but initially peaceful protest against alleged election fraud.

They gathered as Democrats looked poised to take control of the U.S. Senate with two projected wins in Georgia that would allow Biden to control Congress and carry out his political agenda.

However, as he addressed his many thousands of supporters gathered at the rally, Trump warned he would “never concede”. He also said that now was not the time for “weakness”.

As Trump wrapped up his speech, Congress convened a joint session to certify the results of the 2020 election – and Joe Biden’s alleged win. It is the final step before Biden’s inauguration as the 46th president on January 20.

Seeking to disrupt the proceedings in Congress, a large group of protesters soon breached barricades, scaled walls, and forced lawmakers to evacuate the premises. The violence continued for hours.

As crowds stormed the U.S. Capitol doubts were raised whether all were true Trump supporters. Prominent conservative journalist Paul Sperry, former bureau chief of Investor’s Business Daily, suggested some have links with the radical leftist Antifa movement.

He wrote on Twitter: “Former FBI agent on the ground at U.S. Capitol just texted me and confirmed that at least 1 “busload” of Antifa thugs infiltrated peaceful Trump demonstrators as part of a false Trump flag ops.”

The DC National Guard was deployed to the Capitol, to back up law enforcement at the scene.

Despite Trump urging calm, several of his messages on social networking site Twitter were either blocked or prevented from being ‘re-tweeted’ or re-distributed, Worthy News established.

In a major setback for Trump, social networking giant Twitter late Wednesday locked President Trump out of his account for the first time. It was the most punitive step the company has taken against the president on a day of social unrest and violence in Washington. The 12-hour timeout also included the removal of three tweets and a warning that Trump could be subject to a permanent suspension if he continues tweeting what it views as baseless conspiracies about the election and “inciting” violence.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a vocal Trump opponent, said she was “drawing up articles of impeachment” against Trump over the mob violence.

A protestor was photographed inside the office of U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi while elsewhere a protester was seen sitting in the Senate Chamber. Legislators were forced to hide before being moved out.

As events unfolded House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Congress would resume the Electoral College proceedings once the Capitol is cleared of those protesting alleged election fraud and safe for use. Pelosi said she made the decision Wednesday in consultation with the Pentagon, the Justice Department and the vice president, who will preside.

In published generic she claimed that the day would always be “part of history,” but now it would be “as such a shameful picture of our country was put out into the world.”

With the situation remaining tense, world leaders expressed concern about the unfolding events. “Disgraceful scenes in US Congress,” tweeted British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “The United States stands for democracy around the world and it is now vital that there should be a peaceful and orderly transfer of power.”
