As Protests Continue in Europe, Germany the Latest to Introduce Vaccine-Related Restrictions
(Worthy News) – Amid a backlash against COVID-19 vaccine “health passes” elsewhere in Europe, Germany on Tuesday announced new restrictions on the unvaccinated, including ending free coronavirus testing.
The move, which aims to encourage more people to get the jab amid the spread of the delta variant of the virus, comes as countries such as France and Italy continue to see public protests against similar such measures.
Following a video conference between Chancellor Angela Merkel and the heads of Germany’s 16 federal states, it was announced that, with effect from August 23, only those who have been vaccinated, have recovered from COVID-19, or have had a recent negative test will be allowed access to hospitals as visitors, elderly and nursing homes, pubs, cafes, restaurants, indoor events, gyms, and pools, among others.
