(Worthy News) – A new survey by the Israel Democracy Institute has shown that more than half of Israel’s population would be in favor of an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, even if the strike were carried out without the support and agreement of the United States, the Jerusalem Post reports.

The Biden administration is not expected to support such an attack unless Iran was very close to being able actually to fire a nuclear missile, but as Tehran has threatened to destroy Israel, Jerusalem may consider it necessary to strike earlier.

Published Wednesday by the Viterbi Family Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research, the Israeli Voice Index for November 2021 survey was conducted in Hebrew and Arabic from November 29 to December 1, with 614 participants representing a national sample of the entire Israeli adult population, JPost reports.

The survey found that 58% of Jewish Israelis would support a solo strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, compared to 51% of Israelis when Israel’s Arab community is taken into account, JPost reports.

Notably, the survey found that 62% of Jewish Israelis believe Iran constitutes an existential danger to a “large” or “very large” extent, while only a minority (19%) of Arab Israelis think so.

Moreover, the survey found that 67% of Israelis on the political Right support a strike without American support, while only 37.5% on the political Left would support such a strike, JPost reports. Fifty percent of the political center would support a solo attack.
